Leonite resembles large felines, most likely mountain lions. Its tail has a distinctive a brown gem at the end, Its fur is a pale cream excluding it's paws, stomach and upper face which are a yellow. It has a prominent mane made of a brown gem surrounding it's neck. Leonite spend most of their lives in craggy mountains ad have become adept jumpers. Leonite are closely related to Cheetric, Felove and Flearoe, as all four of them are Pokémon based off of felines.
Mega Evolution[]
Mega Leonite have moderately drastic changes after Mega Evolving, such as it's gem on its tail is longer and its color changes from brown to orange. Its mane is spikier and its color changes from brown to red (the single spike in the middle and two on the sides), orange (the ones beside the red-colored man spikes), and dandelion (the two in the back). It's body fur color changes from light brown to silver. Its upper face, paws, and underbelly color changes from yellow to black. The front paws also gain three red claws each.

Behavior[]
Leonite are kings of the Safari Zone. They are indigenous to mountain areas, and they are fierce hunters and usually travel alone. They are very territorial and will ward off all trespassers. their manes and claws are as hard as diamonds and are able to slice through rocks.
Habitat[]
Leonite live in mountainous areas and rarely come down. Wild Leonite are found in the Jewel Mine and in the grass in the Wild Plains (Rikoto's Safari Zone).
Shiny Coloration Differences[]
For Shiny Leonite, the bright brown turns a pale stone blue, the light brown turns a light gray, and the yellow turns a blue-green color.
Meanwhile, for Shiny Mega Leonite, the mane, tail and claws on its front paws turn different shades of blue, and the silver gains some light blue saturation.

Leonite has the Highest Base attack of all Rock-Type Pokémon.
However, while Mega Leonite has the Highest Base attack of all Rock-Type Pokémon, it is tied with Mega Raizodon , Mega Bulker for the same Base Attack Stat of all of the Pokémon available in Solar Light and Lunar Dark.
Mega Leonite seems to quite strongly resemble Solgaleo, the Legendary Pokémon and one of the mascots from Sun and Moon.
In Leonite's old design, it had a diamond blue mane and tail, with body colors that seem to be a mix of the current designs of both Shiny Leonite and regular Mega Leonite.

Name Origin[]
Leonite name comes from the words Leo, as in the constellation, and the -nite suffix often used for minerals. Meanwhile, its old name, Daileo, comes from Diamond and Leo.
