Eclipo is a dual-type Psychic/Rock Pokémon.

It evolves into Eclipser when exposed to a Sun Stone or a Moon Stone.

Biology[]

Physiology[]

Eclipo have a very simple build. Eclipo's face is black, while its "body" is white with two diamond-like appendages; one on the top and one on the bottom. Eclipo's eyes are oval-shaped with each barely overlapping onto the body, each with a yellow iris and a black pupil.

Gender Differences[]

None.

Special Abilities[]

Eclipo are the cause of solar eclipses. Along with their evolution Eclipser, the can move the moon in front of the sun and earth using psychic powers, which they use to gather their energy and make them stronger.

Behavior[]

Eclipo are calm in nature, and avoid human contact as much as possible. However, if disturbed while gathering their energy during a solar eclipse, Eclipo and Eclipser will relentlessly attack with all the energy they've gathered, which can lead to huge problems and major injuries to whoever disturbed them. Eclipo then will have to regather all energy they've expended, which can sometimes lead to the Eclipo not having enough energy to sustain themselves until the next solar eclipse.

Habitat[]

Eclipo mainly live in caves and other rocky areas that have been left untouched by humans. Eclipo usually only come out of their homes during solar eclipses, where thousands of their kind gather to collect the energy given off by solar eclipses. Wild Eclipo are found in the grass and in the cave in the Fallrock Valley.

Shiny Coloration Differences[]

For Shiny Eclipo, the black turns brown, while the irises turn cyan. The white also gains some light brown saturation.

Trivia[]

  • Prior to Version 1.0.1, Eclipo uses Metang's cry.
  • Eclipo and Bronzor are the only Pokémon that are symmetrical both horizontally and vertically.
  • Eclipo and Eclipser are the first Rock/Psychic-types since Lunatone and Solrock.
  • Eclipo was originally called Staroon, and envisioned as a previous Evolution/ baby form for Lunatone and Solrock.
    • In the ROM Hacks Pokémon Sirius and Altair, and in Pokémon Vega, Stellith is a baby Lunatone/Solrock; the latter game also has a third possible Evolution: Planite.
    • Also, Eclipo's old name seems to be related to Cosmoem, as the pokémon is known as "the cocoon of the stars". Both are (part) Psychic-type, as well.

Origin[]

Eclipo is based on a solar eclipse, with the white representing the sun and the black representing the moon.

Name Origin[]

Eclipo's name is based on a corruption of the word Eclipse. Meanwhile, its old name, Staroon, comes from the words Star and cocoon.
