Hamstar are round, brown rodent Pokémon that show striking similarities to hamsters. They have two bobbled ears that are a pale sandy color and brown at the base, which are generally used to add cuteness and the ability to hear a lot better to them as a whole. They have black eyes with white pupils, surrounded by the pale sandy color. They have two buck teeth visibly with their mouths closed. They have a large, fluffy sandy tail on its backside which allow them to tuck themselves up. They have a large pale sandy colored star-shaped marking on their backs, which is said to bring good luck to those who touch it.

Pokédex entry
This Pokémon is a favored pet because of their soft fur and gentle nature. It has been said that touching the star on the back of a Hamstar will bring you good luck.
Prior to Version 1.0.1, Hamstar used Caterpie's cry.
A couple of Hamstar's old designs show it having significantly different ears, having no brown at all at the base.
Origin[]
Hamstar is based off a hamster, a rodent commonly owned as a domestic pet in various areas.
When trying to think of an animal that could be a Normal-type and is found very commonly, I was lost on what to do, until I saw a show on TV that had a hamster in it, and that's where the idea came from. I wanted it to stand out and not be just "normal" looking, so I gave it a star-shaped marking on it's back to be cute. That's also how its name came to be. Hamstar's base design has never changed, even though its sprite has a few times.
Name Origin[]
Hamstar's name comes from a combination of the words Hamster and star. The word star is obviously referencing the star-shaped marking on its back.
